About
Alison Shurter is a Los Angeles-based development executive and creative strategist with over a decade of experience in nonfiction television, branded content, and the creator economy. Her work has appeared on Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, History Channel, Discovery+, CNN, TNT, and Oxygen, among others.
A true people-person, Alison is driven by her curiosity to understand the world, and believes that there’s no better way to do that than to speak to the people across the globe living varied, passionate lives. Having worked as the Vice President of nonfiction development at Citizen Jones, she’s overseen a diverse slate of premium projects including Rocky Mountain Mortician Murder (HBO Max), Blood & Myth (Hulu), How It Works (Discovery+), History's Greatest Warriors (History Channel), and How to Become a Cult Leader / How to Become a Mob Boss (Netflix) and secured over 20 paid development agreements with major network partners. She simultaneously built the company's branded content vertical from the ground up, forging partnerships with agencies and brands like Chime Bank, Superconnector Studios and WPP Media.
Earlier in her career, she contributed to hit crime series License to Kill and Criminal Confessions (Oxygen) at Shed Media Group, supported commissions including American Style (CNN), American Race with Charles Barkley (TNT), and Murder at the Mansion (Oxygen) at DocShop Productions, and managed 20,000+ online creators and cast for brand campaigns with Kia, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, and McDonald’s, to name a few.
Her work has brought her into collaboration with talent including 50 Cent and Taraji P. Henson, and with online creators including Jake Paul and Josh Peck. She’s been on-the-ground with talent during major campaign launches such as McDonald’s at Coachella, Samsung at the SuperBowl, and been to her fair share of VidCon and other creator conventions, including as a panelist discussing how creators and brands work together.
Whether she's developing a new series format, helping brands find narratives that engage real audiences, or building something entirely new, Alison is guided by one non-negotiable instinct: find the Main Character Energy in every story.
